[Review] MyScript Calculator: The Free handwriting calculator for your Android device

Its a fact that we stopped writing, as we started to use keyboards more these days. To be worse, we stopped using our brain for even the simplest of all mathematical calculations. In such a hard situation faced by the mankind, 'Vision Objects' created their wonder app.. 'MyScript Calculator'.
No, this is not just an another calculator for Android. Its different. So how does this solve our hand writing/ brain dilemma..? It solves neither; at least not entirely. This app gives you no keypad to input the data for the calculation. Yes, you read  it have to write with your finger/stylus. The concept is simple just like the app. You have a full white slate (screen) and you write the formulas on it, the calculator will understand what you wrote, calculate what you wrote and displays the result for you. Yes, its that simple. And you can even get some complex calculations done.
The underlying handwriting recognition engine does some pretty impressive job. The app is still in its initial stage (latest version is 1.0.1), but I see tremendous potential for the concept in the future. I am eagerly waiting for the future updates for this app, which will let me to confidently replace my stock calculator app.

  • Joy of writing with your hand.
  • Precise hand writing recognition (Unless you have some really bad hand writing).
  • Can replace the default calculator for basic calculations.
  • Apart from the numbers, app can identify mathematical symbols also.

  • Difficult to use in smaller screens.
  • App is in beta stage and functionality is still limited.

Score: 9/10

Verdict: As the developer say,The same experience as writing on paper with the advantages of a digital device (Scratch-outs, results in real time, …)" . Amen.
